Frida’s Tacolandia: A Taste of Mexico with a Tribute to Frida Kahlo

Frida’s Tacolandia was founded on March 1, 2018, born from the dream of co-owner José González. Inspired by his childhood memories of his family’s small restaurant in Mexico, José wanted to bring the authentic flavors of his homeland to life in a unique dining experience. The restaurant’s vibrant decor is a tribute to the great Frida Kahlo, reflecting a deep appreciation for Mexican culture and art.

Our menu features a diverse selection of authentic Mexican recipes from various regions across Mexico. Enjoy traditional dishes from the southern states, such as Michoacán and Guerrero, as well as northern specialties from San Luis Potosí (the home state of Chef José González), Monterrey, Durango, and Jalisco, where our famous birria originates. We also offer a Tex-Mex twist with our crispy “Mónica Style” taco, available on Taco Tuesdays.

Each day at Frida’s Tacolandia brings a new special:

• Tuesday is for Taco Tuesday
• Wednesday is Enchilada Day, featuring delicious enchiladas.
• Thursday is Torta Thursday, where you can enjoy a variety of tortas, including the chilaquiles torta, chile relleno torta, our house specialty “Torta Frida’s,” and classic options like fajita, pastor, pollo campechano, and ham tortas.

We also offer a full international bar, with a Happy Hour from Tuesday to Friday, 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Our head chef and co-owner, José González, hails from San Luis Potosí and has crafted most of our recipes, drawing on his family’s culinary traditions. Our other co-owner, Gabriel Amaya, oversees the administration and marketing. A devoted fan of Frida Kahlo, Gabriel was inspired to honor her legacy through the restaurant’s decor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels like dining in your grandmother’s home in Mexico.
